Derrick A. Barker Jr. is a Dallas-based financial professional and Owner of vLinkTaxPros, LLC with over 10 years of tax preparation experience.
Born and raised in Detroit, MI, Derrick has always exhibited a propensity for entrepreneurship and hard-work. Derrick attended Wilberforce University where he excelled as a student, 3-year starter on the Men’s Basketball team, peer tutor, resident tax preparer, member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., and campus DJ. He parted from Wilberforce University as Summa Cum Laude and #1 in his class, with a B.S. in Accounting.
Since graduating, Derrick has worked in Financial Planning & Analysis and Accounting before finding a niche in Internal Audit. Derrick is currently a Senior Auditor II with GM Financial and has earned the Certified Internal Auditor designation. He is also actively pursuing the Certified Financial Planner’s designation with plans to further pursue his passions for financial literacy and customer service by opening a Financial Management and Planning company in the future.
Through vLinkTaxPros, Derrick hopes not only to assist clients in preparing their tax returns, but also to educate them on tax concepts, strategies, and changing regulations.
